About Our Approach
Building financial confidence through practical education
Why We Started
The idea emerged from conversations with parents who felt unprepared to teach their children about money. Many adults struggle with financial decisions themselves, having never received formal education on the subject.
We recognised a gap between what schools teach and what young people actually need to know. While mathematics covers abstract concepts, practical skills like budgeting, understanding credit, or evaluating financial products rarely feature in the curriculum.
Our Philosophy
Practical Over Theoretical
We focus on skills young people will use immediately. Understanding how to track spending matters more than memorising economic theories.
Age-Appropriate Content
Financial concepts scale with development. Young children need concrete examples, while teenagers can handle nuance and complexity.
No Judgement
Every family has different financial circumstances and values. We teach skills without imposing specific lifestyle choices.
Interactive Learning
Lectures rarely stick. We use simulations, discussions, and real-world exercises that engage rather than bore.
How We Teach
Each session combines explanation, practice, and reflection. We might start by discussing a scenario, then work through it using play money or digital tools, and finish by connecting the lesson to real life.
Scenario-Based Learning
Rather than abstract rules, we present situations young people relate to. How would you spend £50? What happens if you save £5 weekly for a year? These questions make concepts tangible.
Peer Discussion
Group sessions allow children to learn from each other. Hearing how peers think about money often resonates more than adult advice.
Home Integration
We provide resources parents can use to reinforce lessons. Simple activities that turn everyday moments into learning opportunities.
Our Background
Our educators combine teaching experience with financial sector knowledge. We understand both how young people learn and how money actually works in practice.
All tutors hold relevant qualifications and undergo background checks. We maintain small group sizes to ensure individual attention.
Serving Cambridge Families
Based in Cambridge, we work with families throughout the city and surrounding villages. Our central location makes in-person sessions accessible, while our online option serves those who prefer remote learning.
We've watched children progress from basic coin recognition to confidently discussing investment concepts. Parents tell us the vocabulary has changed at home, with children asking thoughtful questions about household finances rather than simply requesting purchases.
